The Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance team gets to work performing the milling and laminating of frames that will eventually be stood and serve as the foundation for the hull of the restored Bluenose II.

The crew gets to work on the centerline construction of Canada's sailing ambassador.

It may be snowing outside, but thanks to the cover of the yard building on the shores of Lunenburg's harbour, the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance team is hard at work putting the initial pieces of the Bluenose II restoration into place.

Early in 2011, work on the hull of Bluenose II began in earnest when the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance crew began putting frames into place.

Work on the restoration of Bluenose II continues, the last of the frames being put into place as the month of March approaches.

The hull now clearly defined, the final frames of Bluenose II have been put into place and the next phase of the restoration project is about to get underway.

Inside the boatyard as the month of March slowly crawls towards its conclusion, the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance crews are hard at work. With relentless effort and keen eyes for detail, the crews are continuing the refining work on the frame that is the very core of the restored Bluenose II.

Work on the Bluenose II continues in the building as April gets into gear.

Members of the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance (LSA) were in Antigua during the week of April 14th to participate in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta.

The LSA was the sponsor of the regatta's Concours d'Elegance award ceremony.

Farfarer, a Covey Island Boatworks-built yacht captained and owned by Frank Blair, raced in the regatta, attracting plenty of positive attention with great racing results. LSA...

It's May 2, 2011, and work inside the building along the Lunenburg waterfront continues for the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance crew.

By early July, 2011, the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance crews were in the throes of detailed hull work on the restoration of Bluenose II, ranging from interior to exterior.

At the site, crowds by the hundreds continue to pass through each day, catching a glimpse of history in action as Canada's famed sailing ambassador is restored.

The restoration of Bluenose II continues into late July and early August. Despite the rain outside, the crew inside is able to work in relative comfort on matters involving the installation of tanks. Planking is also moving along at a great clip as hundreds of visitors pour through the site each day.

Premier Darrell Dexter visited Lunenburg on August 17 to view the restoration of Bluenose II and meet the Lunenburg Shipyard Alliance team responsible for the restoration of Canada's famed sailing ambassador.

The Premier was joined by local MLAs Pam Birdsall (Lunenburg) and Gary Ramey (Lunenburg West), among other officials.

Inside Bluenose II in early September, the restoration continues as the sun shines outside in beautiful Lunenburg. A reminder that the Lunenburg Shipyard will remain open during the daytime hours so that those visiting our lovely, UNESCO World Heritage Site may continue to view the restoration of Bluenose II as it progresses.

The end of 2011 brought some great activities in Lunenburg, built around the restoration of Bluenose II.

Early in the month, the Gail Patriarche Gallery and the Covey Island Boatworks office, both located on Montague Street in Lunenburg, hosted an art show featuring the breathtaking works created by a group of artists inspired by Bluenose II.
